After the peacefulness and serenity of Jemeluk Beach in Bali, I was hit with culture shock on arrival in Chiang Mai. It is a bustling, energetic city with intense traffic, lots of Buddhist temples, a multicultural array of eating places, massage salons on every corner, and a night market shopaholics would die for.
Yet in the midst of all the noise and haste, down a quiet lane, surrounded by shady trees and a fish pond, is our beautiful little guesthouse, a haven we can retreat to after facing the fray of Chiang Mai city!
Common room at Hanibah House. I sat out on the veranda (pictured in the foreground) at 6am this morning and meditated with the birds.
Chiang Mai: A Buddhist sort of town.....
